Types of offers
Depending on your circumstances and how you applied, you may receive one of the following:
- an offer through VTAC
- a direct offer from Deakin.
How to accept your offer and enrol
To start your journey with Deakin, accept your offer and enrol within five days of receiving this offer.
- Create a Deakin username and password.

- Register for a course information session to help you plan your 2022 study journey.
Haven't applied yet?
Apply via the Deakin Applicant Portal to start in November or March. If you're currently in Year 12, applications are now open via VTAC for Trimester 1, 2023. Plus, you can chat with our application experts on 1800 693 888 if you need support at any step.
Your options
If you receive an offer from Deakin, there are a number of options available to you. You can:
- accept the offer and enrol, then start your studies the next available trimester
- defer your offer, which means putting off the start of your studies by up to two years (depending on what sort of offer you received).
If you accept your offer and enrol straight away, you can also consider a reduced course load to ease into study. It's up to you.
Make sure you enrol on time
It’s essential that you enrol before the date in your offer email. If you don’t, you may lose your place and we might offer it to someone else. If you have chosen to defer, it's important that you still activate your Deakin Student Account and complete a deferral of offer form by the deadline specified in your offer email.

Requirements for undertaking placements
Optometry and medical imaging courses
In accordance with Victorian Department of Justice and Community Safety policy, all optometry and medical imaging students are required to undertake a Working With Children Check (WWCC) at the start of their course, in accordance with the Worker Screening Act 2020. Students are also required to undertake a Police Record Check.
Students who fail to obtain a Police Record Check and a Working with Children Check prior to the commencement of clinical placement will not be able to undertake clinical placement and this will impede progress in the course.
Students may also be required to declare their immunisation status to satisfy the requirements of health organisations where they will be undertaking their clinical learning experience. A health organisation may refuse to accept a student for placement if the student’s immunisation status is not satisfactory to the health organisation.
Several clinical placement agencies require that students are vaccinated/blood tested before undertaking clinical placement and/or graduate employment. Deakin University Medical Centres provide detailed advice, blood testing and administer all necessary vaccinations prior to commencement of clinical placements and/or employment.
Nursing courses
