Understanding preferencing

While course preferencing doesn’t take place until Year 12, it’s a process all high school students should become familiar with. Here are a few tips to get you started (and if you need more information, we’re here to help).

  1. Understand your prerequisites now so that you’re prepared for the Year 11 and 12 subjects required for course eligibility  – they can be found in the entry requirements section on courses pages.

  2. VTAC will offer you a place in the highest preference you’re eligible for.

  3. Your top preferences should be the courses you want to get into, rather than the courses you think you’ll get into.

We can’t wait to welcome you onto campus

Campus life is at the heart of the Deakin experience. Come to campus to meet your teaching teams, new friends in person; learn and study in our world-class facilities; and make the most of our social, vibrant and diverse spaces. But we’re also all about flexibility, so you can incorporate online learning options when it suits.
